NFYL Trophy Round

QPR 3 v Chelsea FC Blenheim 2

This week, the Academy team travelled to QPR in the NFYL Trophy second round. The game started quickly and both teams looked likely to score in an end to end 15 minutes. The hosts went 1-0 up with a pinpoint ball being slotted home by the quick centre forward. The game continued to ebb and flow with both teams showing attacking play. It was QPR who scored next, with an excellent shot from distance.

The Chelsea FC Blenheim Academy Girls bounced back instantly with a quick counter attack, winning a penalty. The penalty was missed but Zoe was first to react to poke the rebound home. The second half saw a corner from the hosts which was was not cleared by Chelsea and the ball was bundled in; 3-1 to QPR.The girls continued to show great belief building into the second half playing some good Football with a disallowed goal and several half chances, even hitting the bar from a corner. With 5 minutes to play, a quick throw taken to Zoe who crossed brilliantly, found Hanna in the box to volley home.

A great performance showing resilience and character, with most of the team staying until 5pm on Thursday afternoon to analyse the game, in preparation for their NFYL Championship game next week.
