A close game was expected as both teams sat on the same points in the National Football Youth League Championship table.The game started well for the Chelsea FC Blenheim academy side who controlled the game in the early stages, with Lyna and Ines both hitting the post in the first 15 minutes. Tottenham did show their intentions though, doing well on the counter attack, with Emilie, in the Chelsea FC Blenheim goal, keeping the scores level just before the break.Chelsea FC Blenheim Academy started the 2nd half the brighter of the two sides, Zoe opened the scoring for the home side weaving past 3 defenders and slotting past the keeper to make it 1-0.
Ines doubled the lead for Chelsea FC Blenheim a winning the ball back on the edge of theTottenham area and coolly finishing passed the onrushing goalkeeper.Zoe was on the score sheet again, making it 3-0 from the spot after Ines was fouled down in thebox after a driving forward run. The third goal prompted Tottenham into action, who grew intothe 2nd half after this with a goal from outside the box, placed well into the corner 3-1 and somedefending to do. Tottenham really looked to put the pressure on now on the score sheet andadded further pressure with another goal from a corner with 5 minutes left on the clock. 3-2!
Chelsea FC Blenheim academy picked themselves up and managed the game well after the goal,limiting Tottenham to very little after a swing in momentum. Ines added to her goal tally to makeit 4-2 after cutting inside, beating her player and finishing cleverly at the near post.A great win for the academy side as they showed their quality on the ball, but also there ability todig deep, defend together and manage the game!
