In contrast to the Academy side the Development team started brightly and were 1-0 up through Ines after just 11 minutes, grit and determination won her the ball and a cultured finished meant the Development team were 1-0 up. Brentford hit back 10 minutes later with a long ball evading the Development teams back line and the resulting through ball was slotted home.
It was the Development team who looked most likely to score for much of the match, and it was Audrey, the programmes top scorer, who calmly put the development team into the lead.
Chloe in goal was called into action several times but was untroubled in the most part. The main threat was consistently the long ball and on one occasion the onrushing Chloe stopped the attack but had to leave the pitch with concussion as a result of a brave block.
Up stepped Alex from centre back who made some great saves to keep the lead, but her fairy tale was paused as Brentford scored with 2 minutes remaining to take the cup tie straight to penalties.
A fairy tales penalty shoot-out followed with centre back Alex staring in goal, making 2 saves and leaving Evie the chance to take the development team into round 3. Evie calmly guided the ball home and the team celebrated in a customary post penalty shoot-out manner.
The Development team have a week off next week before travelling to Brentford in the English Colleges Premier league.
