On a changeable day at Blenheim the sun initially shone as the academy side kicked off their NFYL league cup campaign against Arsenal. With the Elite team getting a bye in round 1 it was all eyes on the academy team this week. Chelsea FC Blenheim started strongly, dominating the ball, and stopping any rhythm to Arsenal’s possession. Within 7 minutes Toni took on her defender and powered the ball passed the Arsenal FC goalkeeper. This spurred the Chelsea FC Blenheim side on and with most of the game being played in the Arsenal half, Chelsea FC Blenheim scored again 3 minutes later as Avery slotted home. 4 more goals followed as the game continued to be dominated by Chelsea FC Blenheim. Maddie scored a hat-trick whilst Sophie and Jannah also got on the score sheet. More of the same was the message at half time and Chelsea FC Blenheim duly delivered, with Maddie scoring 2 more, Jannah scoring again from a corner, Olivia scoring from long distance, Lola latching on to a brilliant through ball and Avery scoring again from long distance . A complete performance and the academy team join the elite team in the NFYL second round.
