BARKING ABBEY 1 v 2 CHELSEA FC BLENHEIM ACADEMY TEAM

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: EVIE

Chelsea FC Blenheim travelled to Barking Abbey looking to extend their impressive run of form. As past winners and current title chasers, Barking Abbey always pose a difficult test, and are a side Chelsea FC Blenheim have yet to beat in their four years in the National Football Youth League. However, the girls started well, with purpose and energy all over the pitch. This energy was infectious and the slick Football now synonymous with the Chelsea FC Blenheim created several chances from open play. It took 14 minutes for Chelsea FC Blenheim to take the lead, with a throw in from Lyna being worked well to the back post

where Dior ghosted in to make it 1-0. Ten minutes later it was a well worked corner that saw Evie guide the ball home with an acrobatic finish at the front post.

Half time came and went and it was Chelsea FC Blenheim who were in the ascendency, hitting the bar and post in the opening 20 minutes of the second half. Barking Abbey began to probe the Chelsea FC Blenheim defence but a composed performance from the backline and Goalkeeper kept them at half chances. Barking Abbey pulled one back with a powerful header from a corner, but Chelsea FC Blenheim managed the last 10 minutes of the game exceptionally well and took all 3 points.
