Academy Team - Chelsea FC Blenheim 2 v 3 Barking Abbey

The Academy team had a slow start and found themselves 2-0 down to a powerful Barking Abbey after just 11 minutes. As the rain poured the Academy team could have been forgiven for being washed away. But the team stepped up and hit back in a devastating 20-minute spell. Amy W slotting home a great team move and Mia D curling an outstanding effort into the far post after some great work from Abi C.

With the weather clearing the game became even in the second half, until a Barking Abbey red card changed the game. Barking Abbey sat back and frustrated the Chelsea FC Blenheim side, who had been in the ascendency since their first goal. As the academy team searched for a winner it was Barking Abbey who pounced on an error at the back, taking the crucial 3rd goal and all 3 points.

The academy side travel to Peterborough next week in the National Football Youth League League Cup.
